Gilgamesh shows great insolence towards Ishtar, the goddess of love and fertility, when she has offered him to take her as wife. This shows the adamant nature of Gilgamesh. Elders of Uruk asked Gilgamesh not to lead the way for killing Humbaba but Gilgamesh was adamant that time. When Ishtar got insulted, she called upon Anu to punish Gilgamesh for his insolent behavior. The brutality was seen when he mercilessly defeated the Bull of Heaven.
